I saw that wilco and Onio mentioned Title Fight - Floral Green and I had never heard of them.... so I looked them up and had a listen.

Listen to Title Fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=addtLpK_snU

Title Fight make me feel nostalgic and motivated (so perfect for listening to while I do some work or clean my apartment.)

Then, I thought maybe there's a topic here, where we can share recommendations music-wise but also talk a bit about why we like them.
I listen to a lot of different music (lately ive been really into ear). - potti

Have you heard of the band 'The Books'? - Onio

I'll keep picking up recommendations from other people, as well as adding a few of my own and posting them here.

Here's one from me...

Hum - You'd Prefer and Astronaut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45nBD1s ... rt_radio=1

Best known for their 1995 radio hit "Stars" which I think featured on an American car commercial, the band released four albums, including two on major label RCA – You'd Prefer an Astronaut (1995) and Downward Is Heavenward (1998) – before disbanding in 2000. I think they're a post-grunge (just!) rock band and Deftones and Fleshwater both cited Hum as influences.

Edit: Derrick also recommended Alien Weaponry - Kai Tangata and it's brilliant!

If you've been to my Audio Player already, you already know i go crazy about Poets of the Fall. They're a pretty underrated finnish band, they mainly play alternative rock, post-grunge, and symphonic rock. If you ever played Alan Wake and Max Payne, there are some of their songs in the soundtrack!

During the pandemic, they launched one acoustic song per month, totalling an awesome album with 12 songs, that was the peak of my year. It was great having something to look forward to every month during such a hard time.

Here's one of my favorites from that album: Rebirth - Poets of the Fall

Chills man, just chills

I'll likely post in here several times in the future, I have a taste for a wide variety of genres, and it sometimes doesn't make sense to me to clump them all together! So I'll begin with a musician I've been listening to a lot over the past year and a half.

Dusqk! https://www.youtube.com/@Dusqk

Around 2023 or 2024 I began listening to a lot of DnB / Liquid Jungle mixes on YouTube. This kind of coincided with trying to make something of a clean break or at least a change from the past 15 years of my life, including a lot of the music I had been listening to. Music brings up memories and feelings and maybe a little bit of baggage here and there, and sometimes brings me back to places I don't want or necessarily even need to revisit.

DnB / Liquid Jungle was great for this. At first I gravitated toward it because it reminded me of a lot of sounds from the era of my youth. But the more I listened to it, the more I recognized how light, airy, focused, positive, and future oriented it felt. It's a lot like how I wanted to feel, to drop the weight off my shoulders and stop reflecting on the past and instead work toward the future.

Eventually I stumbled on Dusqk's music, and very quickly his albums replaced all the mixes I had been listening to. Here are some of my favorites:

(he also explores some other sounds, like synthwave; great for midnight drives)

I recently learned from one of his livestreams (which are very cool! he shares a lot about his process and his equipment and seems like a really nice person) that he doesn't consider himself to be 'Dusqk', but rather, 'Dusqk' is a fictional gameworld, and all the music he creates are fictional OSTs. I guess he's working on a lot of character lore right now, which makes this whole project even more interesting to me!

Here's one of his livestreams:

Anyway, that's just one recommendation. DnB / Liquid Jungle isn't very popular and I can see why a lot of people don't gravitate toward it, but for me, in this particular stage of my life, it has been a fresh breath of air :P I'm sure to have many more recommendations from very different musicians in the future.

P.S.: dropping a YouTube link in a post should now auto-embed it, I think!

Although I was raised on classic rock and alternative rock, I branched out to a lot of genres. I LOVE concept albums that tell a story. Ghost's third album, Meliora, is one such album, and these two songs from it are phenomenal, as are the music videos. The art style in the music videos seems strongly inspired by Fritz Lang's 1927 silent film Metropolis. The album tells a story of a world without god, where the void is filled by authority figures who look down on you, and yet you look up to them anyway, when there's nobody there to help. But there's always someone willing to offer guidance.

Ghost - From The Pinnacle To The Pit

Ghost - Square Hammer

Rush's 2112 album (the A-side, anyway) is another concept album that tells a story set in the city of Megadon in the year 2112, after an intergalactic war in 2062 forced many of the planets to be ruled by the Solar Federation (symbolized by the Red Star), where individualism and creativity are outlawed. The population is controlled by a cabal of priests living in the temples of Syrinx, who take orders from giant banks of computers that control all aspects of life. A man finds a guitar inside a cave and rediscovers the lost art of music. After playing the guitar in front of the priests, they destroy it and declare music a waste of time and against the computers' plan. In a dream, an oracle shows him a planet established simultaneously with the Solar Federation, where an elder race flourishes in creativity and individuality. He awakens, depressed that music is part of such a society that he can never be part of, and takes his own life. After he does, that elder race returns, a new intergalactic war begins, and the Solar Federation is defeated.

I really love the sound produced by the pipe organ. It's my favorite instrument, to be honest, so I go around looking for some compositions with as much of it as I can find. This sounds absolutely beautiful.

I probably have too many genres in my list to put them all here in 1 post but I've been listening to a lot more electronic and dance music and have been a big fan of starjunk95 since I discovered them early this year.
They recently released their first album and I love it!
