Should Websites Offer Free Stickers?

Post by Onio »

I really like TabF5's free sticker project! I am a big fan of physical media linked to digital projects or even music (much like posters, pins, prints, and such), it extends a project's 'universe' into something tangible to enjoy and connect to, but the means of production can get expensive quickly. I feel like stickers are a great entry into that space, and a very interesting way of connecting to a website you really like!

I'd like to send stickers out myself, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I thought about ordering a P.O. box, because I prefer not to use my real address, but those are around $200 a year (!) where I'm from. Summer mentioned to me that a return address isn't absolutely necessary. So I might just start with designing and producing some stickers eventually and follow in TabF5's steps. If more sites were offering free stickers, I'd like to pick up a P.O. Box down the road, because I'd want to collect them all

I can see a future where this is a common hobby, to trade stickers between websites!
What are your thoughts about this?

This is a fantastic idea. It’s fun seeing Australia high up on the list of sticker requests there.

Maybe you could provide a source image for people to print on their own sticker sheets too? Not sure of the pros/cons of that. But I have sticker paper that works on normal printers. It’s a thing.

That’s a great idea! That makes things way more accessible for those who have a Cricut or similar means of producing stickers.

What do you think of this sticker? its a reference to the stickers a federal state of germany printed which translate to "Seems nice here. But have you been to Baden-Württemberg?" there was a time where you could find those stickers anywhere (like in rome, greece, at the niagara falls, just where ever tourists would be)

I agree: seems nice is better, like the original one you are spoofing. The color is lovely.

It's exciting to see these! I think I will end up buying a used Cricut locally and printing these at home. @potti, I agree with Summer on 'seems nice', I think that phrasing will make more sense in a wider variety of locations when you go to stick in random locations :P

Bruh this is so cool! I'm planning on getting a bambulab A2 when it comes out, that one is compatible with a cutting module which would be perfect for making stickers, I always dreamed of making my own sticker sheets, this is going to be fun xD tho i have no idea how to send them and stuff, i understand people dont like throwing their addresses out there lol
