Favorite Video Game OST?

Post by pichi »

I know we have a thread for your favorite video game overall, but I want to know about your specific favorite video game OST... Since that's most of what I listen to, I'm eager to broaden my horizons! And since your favorite OST may be different from your favorite game, I thought this topic could be fun!

My ultimate favorite video game OST is from Paradise Killer! I love how jazzy and funky it is, and listening to it always puts me in a good mood! You can listen to it below.

I'd love to know what yours is! Feel free to share multiple if you can't decide on just one... The more the better!

Although I don't like to play JRPGs the only one I played blessed my ears with the most awesome instrumental that I ever heard, I'm talking about the Xenoblade Chronicles OST.

The Main Theme when you boot up the game along of the Monado on the field and the time going from day to night on this screen holds so much emotion, damn, gave me chills.

The area themes are so good I could just relax and absorb the visuals and the music, another cool thing is that the Bionis has more of a orchestra type of music and the Mechonis is more Metal theme music, very sick.

I feel that every videogame music needs to be heard playing the game to be appreciated fully.

I've played a little bit of Xenoblade Chronicles! I need to get back on the game to be honest, it was a lot of fun, the little that I played anyway! But as I'm listening to the song you linked as I type this reply, it feels so very calming and peaceful... Hopeful in a way. I really enjoy it, thank you so much for sharing!

And I think I agree with you. While I do appreciate the music as it is right now, listening along as I type... I bet it has a different feel in game! I better get gaming to check it out fully!

The main theme you linked is also stunning omg... Such a beautiful piece, I bet that'll also feel more special after playing the game! Now I have a new addition to my playlist, thank you so much!

There's so many incredibly good VG OST's and it can be so hard to choose...

If there's one in particular I always come back to it's the Panzer Dragoon Saga soundtrack by by Saori Kobayashi and Hayato Matsuo. If you haven't played Saga it's by far one of the best and most underrated JRPG's of all time. The soundtrack compliments the game so well that the end credits songs lyrics were written in the fictional "Panzerese" language created entirely for the series.

There's something about that 90's rompler fidelity in the samples that really defines the time these songs were created in. I'll never get tired of listening to it!

Got a few that I always come back to when working. Going to go ahead and embed. First and foremost is a shoutout to one I don't think is as common - Scanner Sombre:

Along with that - very well known, but Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 OSTs are both frequent plays for me:

Along similar lines, I adored the OST for Signalis:

And of course, I can't leave out Disco Elysium:

One that just sprang to mind - incredibly nostalgic for me, one of my favorite games of all time - The Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind:
